14 Sep Rams sell to the top of $11,500 at Trigger Vale

BUYERS shelled out a top price of $11,500 at the Trigger Vale Poll and White Suffolk sale.

The Bouffler family of Lockhart achieved an average price of $2650 for the Polls and the White Suffolks returned a top of $2400 and averaged $1157.

The lots sold in a 100 per cent clearance at the 38^th annual on-property sale.

Stud principal, Andrew Bouffler said he was humbled by the excellent response. After the auction of the Poll rams he thanked new and repeat buyers for their support.

“It was extraordinary,” Mr Bouffler said.

The rams were all backed by performance data and it was evident buyers were seeking this clarification.

“the sale rams are right in the top 20 per cent,” he said.

“We have really picked a direction to work on this dual-purpose Merino and there is real satisifaction in seeing the distance people are coming to purchase,” he said.

In fact the losing bidder on the top-priced ram was a New Zealand buyer.

Mr Bouffler attributed the overall result to the fact that it was the best catalogue of rams offered by the stud and also the excellent seasonal conditions and good commercial returns.

Despite the high prices he said it was also encouraging to see purchasers get good value for money throughout the sale with plenty “affordable lots” going under the hammer too.

A 105-kilogram Poll ram led a bidding frenzy and ultimately it was the buyer on phone to H Francis livestock agent Evan Traviss of Wagga who was successful.

Mr Traviss, secured the ram on behalf of Barry Lang of Langley Heights White Suffolk Stud, Sweet Wattle Pastoral Company, Oberon.

The second top priced ram in the Poll section made $9000 and was secured by the Wallace family of Bendigo Victoria.

Buying support was spread far and wide and bids were taken from Western Australia.

In the White Suffolk section of the catalogue rams sold to high of $2400. The top White Suffolk was secured by the Keating Family of Gundagai.
